What programs does VU English offer?
VU English Programs

We offer a variety of English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) at different levels. We use an active teaching approach to help you learn English. We target reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Many of our courses use our own textbooks and teaching materials. Assessment is a combination of ongoing assessment and final assessment tasks at the end of each course.

General English

The General English course is for students with beginner to intermediate levels of English. 

This course will help you develop the English language skills for:

  • everyday use
  • speaking, listening, reading and writing
  • entry into the English for Academic Purposes course.

English for Academic Purposes (EAP)

EAP is a university and TAFE preparation course. It is designed for students with upper-intermediate to advanced levels of English who want to gain admission to an Australian TAFE, undergraduate or postgraduate course.

English for Academic Purposes (EAP) is made up of the following courses:

  • EAP4 - English for Academic Purposes Upper Intermediate (course available across all intakes)

           A 10-week course for students who wish to study academic English or gain direct entry into foundaton studies, TAFE certificates/diplomas or                     higher education diplomas (Diploma of Business, Engineering or Information Technology) at VU.

  • EAP5 - University Preparation Undergraduate (courses available at intakes 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 & 9)

          A specialised 10-week program for students who wish to enrol in a Victoria University undergraduate course.

  • EAP6 - University Preparation Postgraduate (courses available at intakes 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 & 9)

          For students with an advanced level of English who wish to enrol in a Victoria University postgraduate course.
