The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is accepted for entry into higher education and professional bodies, and for Australian visa applications.
IELTS tests speaking, listening, reading and writing skills to provide scores from band 1 (non-user) to band 9 (expert user). These scores are combined to provide an overall band score. Most higher education institutes, including North Metropolitan TAFE, require 5.5 for entry to certificate and diploma programs and English speaking universities and
higher education institutions require students to have an overall band score of between 6.0 and 7.5 to be eligible for entry to degree programs.
