Indicative Skill Level:

Most Financial and Insurance Clerks possess qualifications and experience that reflect the following skill levels:

In Australia:

  • AQF Certificate III with at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
  • AQF Certificate II or III (ANZSCO Skill Level 4)

In New Zealand:

  • NZQF Level 4 qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
  • NZQF Level 2 or 3 qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 4)

Relevant experience of at least one year may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications. In some cases, additional experience and/or on-the-job training may be required alongside formal qualifications.

  • Answering customer inquiries about bank accounts, credit standing, and loans
  • Receiving and processing deposits and withdrawals for customers
  • Processing credit and loan applications and authorizing approvals
  • Offering and adjusting odds on sporting events and managing bets
  • Processing insurance applications, adjustments, and claims
  • Maintaining records of securities transactions and registrations
  • Compiling data and undertaking statistical and actuarial computations
