Indicative Skill Level

The skill level required for Real Estate Sales Agents varies depending on the qualifications and experience of the individual. In Australia, a skill level 2 is typically required, which can be obtained through an AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma, or at least three years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a skill level 3 can be achieved through an AQF Certificate III with two years of on-the-job training, an AQF Certificate IV, or at least three years of relevant experience. In New Zealand, a skill level 2 can be obtained through an NZQF Diploma or at least three years of relevant experience, while a skill level 3 can be achieved through an NZQF Level 4 qualification or at least three years of relevant experience. In some cases, additional experience and on-the-job training may be required alongside formal qualifications.

Tasks Include

Real Estate Sales Agents are responsible for a range of tasks, including accepting and listing properties and businesses for sale and lease, conducting inspections, and advising buyers on the merits of properties and businesses and the terms of sale or lease. They also provide advice to vendors on sales and marketing options, such as auction sales and open house inspections. Cataloguing and detailing properties and businesses for sale or lease, arranging advertising, and assessing buyers' needs are all part of their role. They offer valuations and advice for buying and selling properties and businesses, and help structure the terms of settlement. Additionally, Real Estate Sales Agents collect and hold rent monies from tenants, address non-compliance with tenancy terms and conditions, and pursue rental arrears. They may also develop and implement business plans, budgets, policies, and procedures for the agency, and arrange finance, land brokerage, conveyancing, and maintenance of premises.
